In November of 2003, Seattle Magazine wrote up the Heron Inn & Watergrass Day Spa in their "Spa Getaways" feature.  A segment of the feature is below.

Spa Getaways
The Ultimate Weekends for Mind, Body and Spirit
By Kathy Schultz, with Sue Frause and Kate Chynoweth

We all have those moments when we've reached our fill-an unreasonable boss, demanding children, a crashing computer. And quite possibly it's raining again. We start to fantasize about escaping. The ultimate fix is to leave town and wallow in a weekend of luxurious pampering, to revitalize our depleted physical and mental resources. The perfect prescription includes eating well, a little exercise, time to relax and spa treatments to tune up the body. Fortunately, the Northwest has a wealth of resort spas and getaways to accommodate us. But what if you don't have a whole weekend? No problem. With the right treatment, an hour will do, and there are a number of spas within a few miles or minutes offering services that will leave you feeling like you did get away for days. Finding the best places takes time, so we visited dozens of spas and resorts-both near and far-subjecting ourselves to numerous treatments to spare you the trouble. These are some of our favorites.

Heron Inn and Watergrass Day Spa
La Conner, Washington

The little town of La Conner, nestled in Skagit Valley just an hour north of Seattle, may not seem like spa central-and it's true that seaweed wraps and Vichy showers are scarce here. But when life calls for an unpretentious getaway and simple, rejuvenating spa treatments, it's time to visit the Heron Inn and Watergrass Day Spa. Try the Back to Basics spa package, a 2.5- hour combination of massage and a seven-step facial that includes deep cleansing, exfoliation and extraction along with a complimentary hand paraffin dip and a relaxing shoulder and foot massage between treatment steps. Or, go for all-out pampering with the Total Indulgence Package, which treats each of you to the Back to Basics treatment mentioned above, plus an overnight stay with chilled sparkling wine and fresh flowers in your room, and a lavish five-course dinner at Le Jardin, a locally acclaimed restaurant. Who said bigger is better?
